 Dyslexia and You

Girls, Children, Kids, Friends, Young

Is dyslexia something affecting your child's learning? Aha! recommends that you begin to help your child by doing some research -- yes, research.

1. Begin the conversation at school. Talk to your child's teacher about your concerns and what interventions may be possible in the classroom. Ask what documentation is needed to ensure accommodations are receive in each class and for the next several years. Your child's teacher and school will have the information you need. Be persistent with finding this information.

2. Visit the Yale Center for Dyslexia and Creativity's website

Donate Today!

Your donation is tax-deductable and will go towards scholarships for families in need.

Our goal is to help as many families as we can and this goal can not be reached with out your help. Tax-deductible donations are put towards scholarships for families looking to confirm the diagnosis of dyslexia or to receive intervention/tutoring services. Dyslexia screening cost an average of $500-750 per child and interventions can be as much as $55/hour. Many families can not afford the help their child needs.

Thank you for your support!

Dyslexia Screening Donation

$250.00

Dyslexia screenings can be costly. Qualified screeners will look at the entire child – their genetic, developmental, and educational history; every prior testing report; their current strengths and weaknesses; and the results from 11 screening tools, which includes a detailed report of student performance, curriculum and intervention needs, and needed accommodations.

Intervention Donation

$50.00

Tutoring/intervention services range in prices. Qualified tutors can often charge up to $50 per hour to work with a child with dyslexia. During tutoring sessions, students are taught to listen for auditory clues and build phonemic awareness. Several curriculums are available to families, but most do not come with a qualified tutor. A donation of $50 will help one family receive an hours worth or more of qualified tutoring.
